Özet

Aim: The relationship between coronary artery disease (CAD) and epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) thickness has been demonstrated in many studies. In the present study, we evaluated the relationship between CAD extensity and the EAT using a newly developed formula.
Materials and Methods: The study population comprised stable angina pectoris patients with ischemic findings detected in non-invasive tests. Coronary angiography was performed to all patients and 53 patients with 20% or more stenosis in at least one coronary artery were included in the study.
Results: We found a significant correlation between EAT thickness with total CAD extensity score and coronary lesion length (p<0.01).
Conclusion: The EAT is associated with the extensity and severity of CAD, and measurement of it by transthoracic echocardiography may contribute to daily practice.
