Özet

Three dimensional computed tomographic images of 30 obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients, whose diagnoses were confirmed with polysomnography, and 10 normal controls were evaluated. Of the 30 OSAS patients, 18 (60%) were found to have elongated styloid processes. Of the normal group, 1 patient (10%) had elongated styloid process. The difference between two groups was statistically significant. We concluded that elongated styloid process may be a cause of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, and should be thought in the differential diagnosis of these patients.
