Bu araştırma, kudret narı (Momordica charantia L.) bitkisinde uygulanan budama ve tepe alımının, bitkilerin hasat periyoduna bağlı olarak meyve ve tohum özellikleri üzerindeki etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla Pazar/Rize koşullarında 2015 yılında yürütülmüştür. Deneme fide dikim yöntemi ile yapılmıştır. Bitkiler üzerinde sırasıyla budama (kontrol, 0 dal, 2 dal ve 4 dal bırakma) ve tepe alımı (kontrol ve tepe alımı) işlemleri uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışmada hasat periyoduna bağlı olarak meyve uzunluğu, meyve ağırlığı, meyve eti ağırlığı, tohum zarı ağırlığı, meyvede tohum sayısı, meyvede tohum verimi, tohum uzunluğu, tohum genişliği, tohum kalınlığı, meyvede suda çözünen kuru madde oranı ve titre edilebilir asitlik değerleri tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada, hasat periyoduna bağlı olarak, tepe alımının sadece meyve uzunluğuna etkisi önemli (P<0.05) çıkarken; budama ile bırakılan dal sayısının incelenen özellikler üzerinde önemli bir etkisi olmamıştır. Bununla birlikte, hasat periyodunun meyve uzunluğu, meyve ağırlığı, meyve eti ağırlığı ve tohumu saran örtü ağırlığına etkisi çok önemli (P<0.01) çıkmıştır. Tohum özellikleri dikkate alındığında, hasat periyodunun tohum uzunluğuna etkisi önemli (P<0.05), tohum genişliğine etkisi ise çok önemli (P<0.01) olmuştur. Araştırma sonuçları ışığında, özellikle meyve uzunluğu ve meyve ağırlığı bakımından 2. hasat periyodunda diğerlerine göre daha nitelikli ürün elde edilebileceği tespit edilmiştir
This research was carried out in 2015 in Pazar/Rize to determine the effects of pruning and topping in the bitter melon plant (Momordica charantia L.) on fruit and seed traits depending on the harvest period of the plants. The trial was established by transplanting the seedlings grown in the greenhouse to field. Pruning (control, 0 branche, 2 branches and 4 branches leaved by pruning) and topping (control and topping) were applied respectively. In this study, depending on harvest period, fruit length, fruit weight, fruit flesh weight, seed aril weight, number of seeds per fruit, seed yield per fruit, seed length, seed width, seed thickness, soluble solid content and titratable acidity values were determined. In the research, depending on harvest period, the effect of topping only was significant (P <0.05) on fruit length while the effect of number of branches did not have significant effect on the traits examined. However, the effect of harvest period on fruit length, fruit weight, fruit flesh weight and seed aril weight was very important (P <0.01). Considering seed traits, the effect of harvest period on seed length was significant (P <0.05) while its effect on seed width was very significant (P <0.01). In the light of the research results, it was found that more qualified product can be obtained in the 2nd harvest period than the others especially in terms of fruit length and fruit weight.
